Jacob do Bandolim’s signature classic from 1961, Assanhado sports a bluesy A section and a Bebop-like bridge melody winding through a cycle of fifths harmonic structure.

The underlying tempo and rhythmic groove is much closer to a samba paired with choro melodic writing, hence the hybrid genre "samba-choro"

Following the thematic statement, an original “bebop shout chorus” based on the B section incorporates cross-rhythmic chromatic basslines before returning to the original samba-choro texture at the coda.
