Ferreira was a clarinetist/saxophonist of high repute whose solid formal training and compositional creativity was well-recognized among peers.

This cornerstone 1942 choro canção capitalizes on the chalameau (lower register) of the clarinet, eventually climbing into higher and higher registers. Its motivically economical melody is built on ascending sixths offset by descending chromatic movements. This quintet arrangement is probably closest to the traditional "regional" (choro group) instrumentation: solo woodwind (or mandolin), cavaquinho, six and seven string guitars, pandeiro.
