Prelude to a seven-movement work representing Boukas' fertile period composing "chamber choros".

Originally commissioned by the Modern Mandolin Quartet, this string quartet adaptation captures the essential melodic, harmonic and rhythmic gestures of choro, mixed with Romantic period writing reminiscent of Brahms. The piece is based on Chopin's Eb major Nocturne Op. 9 no. 2. After the Prelude, Chopin's original theme is stated in 2/4 (rather than the original 3/4), and then followed by five contrasting variations. With the exception of the Finale, all other movement soundbites are complete for previewing.
